Chapter_9
Micah’s expression darkened as he looked at the name Sadie had entered, but instead of showing anger, there was a dangerous, calculating glint in his eyes. “You think giving me that nickname will make me feel inferior?” he asked, his voice low and steady. “I’m not the one who’s in debt here, Sadie. I’m just trying to keep my options open.”
Sadie shot him a defiant glare, refusing to back down. “That’s the least of your worries right now. You’re going to pay me what you owe, no matter how you feel about it. You can keep your pride, but I want my money.”
Micah smirked, his gaze never leaving hers as he tapped the screen of her phone. “You’re walking a fine line, Sadie. But I’ll play along. For now.”
Sadie’s heart raced, but she didn’t show it. She had a plan, and it was going to work. At least, that’s what she told herself as she pocketed her phone and turned her attention back to the contract.
“I’m holding you to this,” she said firmly, still feeling the weight of everything that had happened, the pain, the loss, and the frustration. “And if you try anything funny, I’ll make sure everyone knows who you really are.”
Micah’s lips twitched with the faintest hint of amusement, but he didn’t respond. Instead, he stood up and walked toward the bar, grabbing another drink. “You have your deal, Sadie. But remember, nothing in life is free. You might think you’re getting the better end of this, but we’ll see who really comes out on top.”
Sadie watched him warily, feeling a mix of anger and anxiety. She had no choice but to go through with this, but part of her still feared the power Micah seemed to wield. He wasn’t just a bouncer or a man from her past. He was dangerous, and she was playing a game she wasn’t sure she could win.
But with the contract signed, she couldn’t back out now. The path ahead was uncertain, but Sadie knew one thing for sure: she would get her revenge, no matter what it took.
