Chapter_16
Sadie chuckled to herself, the text from Toy Boy in Debt bringing an unexpected smile to her face. It was strange, how even in her tough, stressful life, moments of levity still snuck through, often when she least expected them. She typed back quickly: “Just remember, confidence is key. You’ve got this.”
Her phone buzzed again as she settled back against her pillow. But this time, it was a new message, not from her client, but from a number she didn’t recognize. The message simply read: “Coco’s fine now, but I’m keeping an eye on it.”
A chill ran down Sadie’s spine, her fingers pausing mid-scroll. Who was this? She quickly opened the message again, her mind racing. The tone felt oddly familiar. She wasn’t sure what to make of it.
Was this Micah?
She quickly checked the number—it was unfamiliar. But somehow, the message felt like it came from someone who knew exactly how she felt about Coco. Her heart skipped a beat.
Sadie felt a strange unease creeping in. Had Micah found a way to get involved with her personal life even more than she realized?
Her phone buzzed again. This time, it was Toy Boy in Debt: “If you ever want to chat about the best ways to close deals, you know where to find me. I’ll be here, and hopefully, I’ll have some stories to share soon. Take care, Sadie!”
Shaking off the lingering thoughts about Micah, Sadie put her phone down and sighed. She was so tired. As much as she was in control of her work life, moments like these—messages, unexpected interactions—kept her on edge. She really did need to get some sleep.
But just before her eyes could close, a thought danced in her mind: Why would Micah care about Coco?
