Chapter_64
Sadie’s mind raced as she tried to make sense of the overwhelming sensation coursing through her. The similarity between the man before her and the man she had encountered four years ago was almost too uncanny to ignore. Her thoughts flickered back to that night, the one where she had unknowingly crossed paths with someone whose presence had left an indelible mark on her.
She couldn’t help but wonder—was Micah the same person? Could it be that her past was suddenly colliding with her present? The thought made her stomach churn. How could she have missed the signs before? Could it truly be him? Her mind wrestled with doubt and the pull of an unspoken connection.
Sadie’s gaze lingered on Micah’s lower back, hoping for some clue that would confirm or dispel her suspicions. But what if she was wrong? What if it was just her mind playing tricks on her, trying to make sense of everything that had happened?
Micah, still oblivious to the storm of thoughts brewing inside her, walked towards the door. The slight tension in his posture didn’t escape Sadie’s notice, and her pulse quickened. Was it possible he knew the truth? Did he recognize her in the same way? Or was it just another of his mind games?
Before Sadie could gather the courage to speak, Micah paused at the door, turning slightly. His voice, low and calm, broke the silence between them. “I’m not the person you think I am, Sadie.”
The words sent a chill down her spine. It wasn’t an admission, but a challenge—a hint that perhaps, deep down, Micah knew exactly who she was, even if she wasn’t yet ready to admit it. Was he testing her? Pushing her to confront her past?
Sadie’s breath caught in her throat. “What are you talking about?”
Micah didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he glanced back at her with an unreadable expression. “You have questions. You always do. But answers are something you’ll have to seek for yourself.”
Sadie sat there, staring at the door as it clicked shut behind him. The room felt colder now, and a strange weight settled over her. His words echoed in her mind: “I’m not the person you think I am.”
Her body trembled slightly, the pain in her shoulder still present but drowned out by a new, sharper feeling—the need to uncover the truth. Was Micah connected to that past she had tried so hard to bury? And if so, what did it mean for her future?
The uncertainty was almost unbearable, but one thing was certain—Sadie knew she had to find out. The connection between them, whether real or imagined, wasn’t going to let her go.
