Chapter_50
Sadie’s heart skipped a beat as she heard the words. “Abducted?” she repeated, her voice trembling as a cold chill ran down her spine. “What do you mean? Where are they?”
Mr. Brooks, still trying to maintain his composure, hurriedly explained. “We don’t have all the details yet, but two of the children, Nathan and Mia, were taken by a man. The situation’s escalating quickly. We’ve alerted the authorities, but they’re not responding fast enough.”
Sadie’s mind raced as she absorbed the information. “Who took them? Was there a ransom demand?” She could barely keep her voice steady as panic set in.
Miss Bell, who had been catching her breath from rushing to the room, quickly stepped in. “We’ve seen this man before. He’s connected to the last incident with Nathan. He’s dangerous, and he’s clearly after something.”
Sadie’s face drained of color. “What do you mean, after something?” she asked, her voice quiet but sharp, desperate for clarity.
“The chip,” Miss Bell said, her voice grim. “It’s all connected. This man, this ‘Tiger,’ he’s looking for the golden chip that Nathan had. He’ll do anything to get it, including using the children as leverage.”
Sadie’s thoughts swirled in confusion and fear. “Where are they? Where is this man taking them?”
“Right now, we believe they’re in a vehicle, but we don’t know where he’s headed. He’s trying to get to Coco, the parrot, because he believes it still has the chip.”
“Where’s Coco?” Sadie’s voice grew more urgent, her maternal instincts kicking in full force. “I need to get to them. We have to get them back!”
“We’re trying to track the vehicle now,” Mr. Brooks said, his voice tinged with frustration as he fumbled with his phone. “But it’s difficult. The car is moving, and he’s being careful not to be followed.”
Sadie’s heart raced, her mind already whirling with potential plans. “I’m going after them. I can’t just sit here and wait. Call the police, but I’m not waiting for them to arrive. I’m going now.”
David, who had been standing quietly beside her, finally spoke up. “Sadie, we need to be careful. We don’t know what we’re dealing with here.”
Sadie shot him a look that was a mix of desperation and determination. “I’m not losing my children. You don’t understand, David. We don’t have time to play it safe. They’re my kids.”
David hesitated, then nodded, his face hardening with resolve. “I’ll help you. We’ll figure this out together.”
The tension in the room was palpable as Sadie and David quickly left the building, rushing toward the nearest vehicle. She was a woman on a mission, and nothing was going to stop her from getting her children back. As they drove, her thoughts raced, calculating every move, wondering where “Tiger” could be taking Nathan and Mia, and how far they had to go to stop him before it was too late.
Back at the school, the staff was scrambling to contain the situation. Phones rang endlessly as everyone tried to gather information, but time was slipping away. Every minute counted now.
Meanwhile, Nathan, still in the car with Mia, sat as quietly as he could, trying to keep his emotions in check. His mind was working furiously, piecing together the pieces of the puzzle.
“I’ll take you to Coco,” Nathan whispered to the man who was sitting beside him in the car, still holding Mia by her wrist. “But you have to promise you won’t hurt her. I’m not going to let you take her anywhere.”
Tiger grunted, his patience running thin. “I don’t have time for your games. Just take me to the parrot, and everything will be fine.”
Nathan didn’t believe him. Not for a second. But for Mia’s sake, he had to go along with it, even if he was scared out of his mind. He wasn’t sure how he was going to outsmart this man, but he would find a way. He had to.
As the car sped down the road, Nathan couldn’t help but think about everything that had happened—the chip, the men in black, the danger surrounding them all. They were in deep, deeper than he could have ever imagined. But he had to stay strong. For Mia. For Coco. For all of them.
And as the car continued down the road, headed toward an uncertain fate, he swore to himself he wouldn’t stop fighting.
