Lethan let out a tired sigh, his hand pressing gently against his bandaged arm. He didn’t want to admit it, but the injury stung more than just physically. The weight of everything—the betrayal by Quinn, the potential ruin of his company, and the mysterious involvement of Carlisle—was pressing down on him harder than any wound could.
Wanda, still visibly upset from the events she had just learned about, shot a sharp glance at Zachary. “Zac, you’re taking this too far. Violence isn’t going to fix anything. We need to focus on how to deal with Quinn and John, not go looking for more problems.”
Zachary’s anger flared again, his hands clenching into fists. “You don’t get it, Wanda! That bastard took away something I worked for—something I earned. And now this whole mess with Uncle Lethan? Someone has to pay for this.”
Wanda looked at her cousin, her expression softening a bit. “I know you’re angry, Zac, but we can’t let emotions drive us. We need to stay focused. We need a plan.”
Lethan watched them both, the exhaustion starting to show in his face. He was thankful for Wanda’s clear-headedness, but he knew this situation was far from over. He had bigger problems than his own injuries now. The three billion-dollar project loomed over him like a dark cloud. If Quinn was truly planning to embezzle that money, it could destroy everything he had worked for.
“I’m sorry, Lethan,” Wanda said softly after a pause. “I didn’t know you were going through all of this. It’s… it’s a lot.”
Lethan gave a weary smile. “You don’t need to apologize, Wanda. But we need to figure out who’s behind all of this. I’m sure Carlisle knows something about Quinn’s plan. I just don’t know how he’s connected to everything yet.”
“Do you think he’s the one who tipped you off?” Zachary asked, his voice full of suspicion.
Lethan shook his head. “I don’t know. It doesn’t make sense that he’d know about Quinn and John without being involved somehow. But we need to get to the bottom of it.”
Wanda spoke up, her voice filled with uncertainty. “What if Carlisle is just an innocent bystander? What if he doesn’t know anything about the bigger picture?”
Lethan glanced at her with a tired look in his eyes. “You may be right, Wanda. But I can’t afford to take any chances. I need answers, and I need them quickly.”
Zachary seemed to calm down slightly as he thought about the situation. “Alright, alright. No breaking legs just yet. But we need to find out exactly what Carlisle knows.”
The tension in the room was palpable as everyone considered their next steps. Lethan knew the answers were out there somewhere, but they had to be careful. If they moved too quickly, they might find themselves in deeper trouble. But if they waited too long, it might be too late to stop Quinn’s plot before it was too far gone.
“I’ll go check with Carlisle,” Wanda volunteered. “I’ll find out what he knows—maybe he’s just a pawn in this whole thing.”
Lethan nodded. “Be careful, Wanda. If anything feels off, don’t hesitate to back out.”
With a final glance at each other, they all left the hospital room, each of them carrying the weight of their own thoughts. The world outside might have seemed normal, but they all knew that nothing would be the same again. Secrets were surfacing, alliances were shifting, and the future of Islo Clothing hung by a fragile thread.
