Carlisle’s heart skipped a beat as the senior’s words lingered in the air. He hadn’t expected such a direct message. He could sense the intimidation in the air, the way the other students were holding their breath, sensing the tension.
He met the senior’s gaze, trying to keep his expression neutral. “Who’s telling you this?” Carlisle asked calmly, though his mind was racing.
The scar-faced senior gave a small smirk, but there was no humor in it. “Does it matter? Just take the advice and stay away from her.”
Carlisle stood frozen for a moment, not showing any sign of being rattled, but internally, he was trying to piece things together. Why would someone want him to stay away from Wanda? Was it a threat? A warning? Or something more personal?
He could feel the eyes of the others on him, some out of curiosity, others in fear of what would happen next. The seniors were clearly enjoying the power they held over the freshmen, but Carlisle wasn’t one to be intimidated.
“I’ll keep that in mind,” Carlisle said evenly, his voice steady.
The scar-faced senior nodded, seeming satisfied with Carlisle’s response. “Good. We wouldn’t want any trouble.” With that, he turned and started reading off more names from the list, moving on as though the conversation had been nothing.
Carlisle let out a slow breath, trying to shake off the unease that had settled in. He glanced at his roommates, but none of them seemed to have anything to say. It was clear that whatever this was, it wasn’t something they could confront directly. They were on their own with this one.
As the group of seniors finished their rounds and left the room, the tension began to dissipate, but Carlisle couldn’t shake the feeling that something bigger was brewing. Was this just a warning from a random senior, or was there something more to it? And why Wanda?
He didn’t have answers, but one thing was clear: he’d have to be cautious. This wasn’t just about his friendship with Wanda anymore—there were other forces at play.
