The conversation hung in the air, heavy with the weight of possibility. Heath exhaled a plume of smoke, his thoughts swirling as he stared at the six computers. He knew the temptation of quick cash was strong, but he also saw the long-term potential that Carlisle offered.
“We have to look at the bigger picture,” Heath continued, flicking the ash from his cigarette. “Selling these computers now would give us money in the short term, but it won’t set us up for something lasting. Carlisle has a plan. If we stick with him, we might just build something real.”
Owen and Benjamin exchanged glances, still unsure. The idea of immediate profit was tempting, especially since they had been scraping by for so long. But Heath’s words had struck a chord with them.
“You really think this is the way forward, Heath?” Owen asked, his voice hesitant but curious. “What makes you so sure Carlisle knows what he’s doing?”
Heath put out his cigarette and leaned back, his expression serious. “Because he’s not like the others. He’s got a vision, and he’s already putting it into action. Those computers? That’s just the beginning. If we follow him, we might be part of something bigger than any of us could do alone.”
Benjamin, ever the optimist, scratched his head. “But… it’s a risk, right? What if it doesn’t work out?”
Heath smirked, his eyes narrowing. “Everything’s a risk. The question is, which risk are we willing to take? The one where we sell out for quick cash, or the one where we build something with our hands?”
The room was silent for a moment, as each of them pondered the choice before them. The lure of immediate gain was undeniable, but Heath’s conviction seemed to shift the scales toward a future they couldn’t yet see but might be worth fighting for.
“Alright,” Owen said after a long pause, standing up from his chair. “I’m in. Let’s see what Carlisle can do.”
Benjamin nodded eagerly. “Me too. I’m with you guys.”
Heath gave them a knowing smile. “Good. Now, let’s make sure we’re ready to follow through. We’re not just playing for today. We’re playing for the future.”
With their decision made, the group set about making plans for the next steps in their journey. They were no longer just working on dreams; they were starting to build something that could turn those dreams into reality.
