Carlisle raised an eyebrow at Wanda’s reaction, a playful smile tugging at his lips. “I was just joking, you know.”
Wanda gave him a look that could’ve burned a hole through the floor, her cheeks still flushed. “You really know how to make things awkward, don’t you?”
Carlisle leaned back in his chair, enjoying the lighthearted tension between them. “I can be serious when I need to be, but I’d rather keep things fun.”
Wanda rolled her eyes, but she couldn’t help the smile that crept onto her face. “Well, I’m serious about helping you meet my uncle. He’s not easy to get in touch with, but if I ask him, he might make time for you.”
Carlisle nodded, appreciating her offer. “Thanks, Wanda. I really need this.”
“Just don’t get too cocky, okay?” Wanda teased, standing up as the class ended. “I’ll let you know when I have news.”
As she walked away, Carlisle’s phone buzzed again. It was a message from Sean, asking if he had made any progress with Islo Clothing. He quickly typed back, telling him Wanda was going to help.
The next few days passed uneventfully until Wanda finally approached him after class one afternoon. “I spoke to my uncle,” she said quietly, glancing around to make sure no one was nearby. “He’s willing to meet you, but he wants to know why you’re interested. I can’t give him a reason unless you tell me more.”
Carlisle hesitated, his mind racing. It wasn’t just about Islo Clothing or the chairman anymore. It was about something much bigger, something that could change everything. But how much could he reveal to Wanda without causing her to question his motives or get caught in something dangerous?
“I’m looking into a potential business opportunity,” Carlisle finally said, deciding on a vague response. “I need to understand the industry better, and I thought meeting someone at the top would be a good start.”
Wanda nodded, seemingly satisfied with his explanation. “Alright, I’ll arrange the meeting for you. But don’t expect him to make things easy. He’s a busy man, and he doesn’t take kindly to people who waste his time.”
“I’ll be on my best behavior,” Carlisle assured her with a grin. “I’ll owe you one for this.”
Wanda smirked but didn’t say anything more. As they parted ways, Carlisle felt a surge of hope. This was the break he needed, but now it was up to him to make the most of it.
As the days passed, Carlisle found himself getting more and more absorbed in his plan. His connection with Wanda was starting to feel less like a coincidence and more like fate pushing him in a certain direction. But there was still one thing bothering him: the mysterious warning from the scar-faced senior about staying away from Wanda. He couldn’t shake the feeling that something was lurking beneath the surface, something that he couldn’t quite figure out.
But for now, he pushed those thoughts aside. The chance to meet the chairman of Islo Clothing was too important. It was his ticket to understanding the world of business on a much larger scale—and maybe, just maybe, it would lead to the answers he was desperately seeking.
