Chapter_62
The atmosphere in the office had changed completely. The parents, who had been ready to criticize Vivienne, now found themselves on the defensive. Mr. James’s words, combined with the sudden weight of Collin’s response, left them utterly speechless.
Vivienne stood there, trying to hold back a smile as the parents struggled to form coherent sentences. The accusations they had so carelessly thrown at her were now exposed for the ignorant, misplaced criticisms they were. She had no intention of letting them off lightly, but she wasn’t going to waste her energy defending herself any further when Mr. James had already put them in their place.
A cold silence followed, broken only by the sound of Collin contacting the lawyer. The tension in the room was palpable, as the parents exchanged wary glances, unsure of what to do next. The realization that they had severely underestimated Vivienne—both in terms of her education and her connections—began to dawn on them, but the damage was already done.
Mr. James’s expression remained hard, his eyes narrowed as he continued to address the group. “Next time, I suggest you keep your assumptions to yourselves. You have no idea who you’re speaking about. Vivienne is a force to be reckoned with, and I’ve never been more certain of it.”
The parents, now clearly intimidated, started muttering among themselves. It was clear that they were trying to salvage some form of dignity after the public scolding, but no one dared to speak out again. Lysander, who had been silently observing, felt a sense of relief wash over him. The power dynamic had shifted entirely.
Vivienne turned to him with a small smile, though she could tell he was still seething with anger. “I think we’ve made our point, Principal.”
Lysander nodded, his usual calm demeanor returning. “I’m sorry you had to go through this, Vivienne. They won’t be bothering you again.”
Vivienne shrugged, her expression unbothered. “It’s fine. I’ve dealt with worse.”
Mr. James clapped a hand on Lysander’s shoulder. “You’ve got an incredible team here. Now, let’s see what we can do with Class Eighteen, shall we?”
Lysander led them out, leaving the parents in stunned silence. The whole situation had taken a turn none of them had expected. For all their wealth and influence, they were reminded that true power came not from money or status, but from intellect, character, and the alliances one cultivated.
As Vivienne and Mr. James exited the office, Lysander couldn’t help but feel a surge of pride for her. She had not only defended herself, but she had also proven just how much she was capable of—something these parents had clearly failed to see until now.
