Chapter_30
Arabella froze at Percival’s words, her face pale as the room seemed to hold its breath. The challenge in his voice was unmistakable—he wasn’t playing her game anymore. She had tried to defend herself, even drag Dr. William into her web of lies, but Percival’s calm and calculated response made it clear he wasn’t buying it.
For a moment, Arabella felt the ground beneath her feet crumble. She had played this game for so long, spinning her lies and manipulating situations to her advantage, but now it was all unraveling in front of everyone.
The crowd, sensing the shift in momentum, whispered among themselves, some of them nodding in agreement with Percival’s challenge. Charlotte, who had been enjoying the spectacle, now watched intently, her arms crossed with a satisfied smile. She could tell that Percival was done with Arabella and was ready to expose her for all her falsehoods.
Arabella, still trying to salvage something from the wreckage, forced a smile. “Mr. Ellington, there must be some misunderstanding. I never intended to cause harm.” Her voice was shaky, but she tried to regain some composure. “If you want, I will go to Dr. William right now and clear things up.”
But Percival wasn’t interested in her explanations anymore. He glanced at Thomas, who immediately pulled out his phone and made a call. Percival’s words rang out once again, sharper than ever: “Let’s see what Dr. William has to say about all of this.”
The air grew heavier with anticipation as everyone awaited the outcome. The truth was about to come crashing down, and Arabella was losing her grip on the situation.
Vivienne, who had been watching with amusement, finally spoke up. Her voice was cool and steady, a stark contrast to Arabella’s frantic attempt to control the situation. “Arabella, you should have known better than to play these games. The truth always comes out in the end.”
Arabella glared at her, but the anger in her eyes was no longer as sharp as it once was. She had no more cards to play, no more lies to tell.
As the phone call continued in the background, Percival looked directly at Arabella. “You’ve lost, Arabella. It’s over.”
The crowd was now fully on Percival’s side, their murmurs growing louder as they turned their eyes to the woman who had once been a symbol of grace and elegance. Arabella had been exposed for the fraud she was, and her reputation was in tatters.
Beatrice, who had been standing by, tried to smooth things over. “Percival, this is all a misunderstanding. Please, let’s not make a scene. Arabella is a good girl at heart—”
Percival’s icy gaze shifted to Beatrice, silencing her with a single look. “No. Let’s not sugarcoat it. Arabella has shown her true colors. It’s time everyone knows what she really is.”
Arabella’s chest tightened, her heart pounding in her ears. She had always been able to manipulate the people around her, but now, even her own family and friends were turning their backs on her. Her life was crumbling before her eyes, and there was nothing she could do to stop it.
Dr. William’s arrival seemed imminent, and the truth was about to be revealed for all to see. Arabella could only stand there, feeling the weight of the truth pressing down on her, as Percival, Vivienne, and Charlotte watched her every move. The façade she had so carefully constructed was shattered, and in its place, there was only the cold, unforgiving reality of her lies.
