Chapter_26
At Tranquil Estates, Vivienne’s day had already been eventful. She had received numerous messages on her social media after posting a request for job leads. Some were lighthearted, others exaggerated, but one in particular caught her eye: an offer from Alliance Enterprises with the suggestion to make Dorian the CEO. As much as Vivienne was used to the unusual nature of her connections, this seemed like something she couldn’t ignore. Despite the absurdity of some of the offers, Vivienne couldn’t help but feel that something more substantial might be on the horizon.
Dorian, on the other hand, was still wrestling with his worries over his financial situation. Even though Imperial Blossom Nursery had graciously waived Thaddeus’ tuition fees, he couldn’t shake the stress of not being able to provide for his family. Cordelia was quick to dismiss his concerns, offering reassurance that even if he couldn’t find work in Havenwood, there were plenty of other options in different cities.
Vivienne, sensing his frustration, wasn’t bothered by Dorian’s lack of a job—after all, she was more than capable of supporting him and his family. But as the conversation shifted, Dorian received a phone call that changed the course of the evening: Joseph had invited them to his wife’s birthday party, specifically requesting Vivienne’s attendance. The invitation was unexpected, considering the strained relationship between the families.
Cordelia was suspicious, wondering what Joseph’s sudden change of heart meant, but Vivienne simply smiled and agreed to go, eager to uncover what was really behind the invitation. The Hawthorn family didn’t offer such invitations without an ulterior motive.
Meanwhile, Percival was also gearing up for the night’s event. His reaction to the invitation was nonchalant, though it was clear from his earlier actions that something deeper was at play. Leopold, ever curious, couldn’t understand why Percival was so keen to attend a party thrown by the Hawthorns, especially after the tension that had arisen between him and Arabella. Percival’s silence only added to the intrigue, but when pressed, he finally answered.
He was attending because Arabella had saved his sister, Isolde. But Percival’s mind was working on a deeper level. He had noticed a shift in Arabella’s demeanor when she received his thank-you gifts, especially the check. He had seen a glimmer of greed in her eyes—a hint that perhaps her actions weren’t as selfless as they seemed. Percival wasn’t buying the facade, and he suspected that Arabella had ulterior motives for helping Isolde.
Leopold, excited by the possibility of drama, immediately wanted to tag along. His mischievous grin showed he was eager to see how things would unfold. Percival, still calm and collected, didn’t offer much in the way of explanation but was undoubtedly curious himself. He wanted to see how Arabella would play her cards at the party, especially now that he suspected her actions had more to do with personal gain than altruism.
The stage was set for a night filled with intrigue and surprises, with both Vivienne and Percival prepared to step into the web of the Hawthorn family’s plans. What they didn’t know was how intertwined their fates would become as they navigated the complex dynamics of family, ambition, and hidden desires.
