Chapter_45
Tears dripped from Quinn’s chin as she struggled, her breath ragged and erratic. The two thugs, relentless in their pursuit, sneered at her.
“Why aren’t you talking?” one asked, his voice laced with impatience.
The other thug growled, “Can we just get this over with? I’m getting tired of this.”
Quinn’s eyes darted around in desperation, but no one in the busy area seemed to care. She felt the weight of Alexander’s absence; without him, she was vulnerable and exposed to the cruelty of others.
Despite her fear, she found herself dragged into the shadows of a deserted park. Her heart raced as they pulled her deeper into the darkness, the surrounding trees blocking out any hope of light.
Her hands trembled, and her mind raced, but she was powerless. She tried to break free, but their grip on her was too strong. The night seemed to stretch on endlessly, and Quinn’s thoughts became a blur. The cold was biting, and her body was stiff with fear.
Suddenly, one of the men froze, looking down at Quinn’s clothing. His expression shifted from cruel to uneasy.
“Is it… her period?” he muttered, taken aback.
The other thug recoiled, a look of revulsion spreading across his face. “That’s disgusting. Let’s just get out of here.”
Without another word, they released Quinn and hurried away, muttering about the “mess” and their hasty retreat. The park was left in silence, and Quinn lay there, broken and vulnerable.
She struggled to sit up, but the pain was too much. Her body felt heavy, and her vision blurred. As her fingers dug into the earth, she felt the weight of everything—her abandonment, her helplessness.
She thought about the child she was carrying, and the quiet horror of what she had endured. But the most overwhelming feeling was the crushing sense of despair. No one had come to her aid.
She thought she might be dying, and in that moment, it felt like it might be for the best.
Her existence seemed meaningless, and she was left to question what had become of the life she once knew.
